There’s no better way to celebrate the warm weather than a chance to take your meal outside. Take a hike and a picnic or dine alfresco at a restaurant that has outdoor seating. Here are our favorite Waynesboro-area restaurants and watering holes that offer good eats and drinks outdoors.

The Fishin' Pig

As the name suggests, The Fishin’ Pig specializes in fresh seafood and slow-smoked pork BBQ. It’s a great place to get southern favorites like fried catfish and brisket, as well as new classics such as blackened Ahi Tuna Tacos and Mac-n-Skillets. Weekly specials include ½-price ribs on Tuesday, free meals for kids on Wednesday, and ½-price fried catfish on Thursday. Their amazing outdoor dining space is called the Pig Pen and it often features live music on the weekends.

Plaza Antigua

Plaza Antigua serves some of the best Mexican food in the area, including fresh guacamole made right at your table. Choose from authentic street tacos, burritos, fajitas, bowls, combos, and more. Plaza also showcases live music Thursday-Sunday in their new outdoor space, El Corral.

Farmhaus Coffee Co.

Take a seat at one of the outdoor tables on Farmhaus Coffee Co.’s private patio for your morning caffeine fix. Take a deep breath of the morning air and choose from mocha, cappuccino, iced, and bottomless drip coffees. You’ll want to accompany your drink with a tasty toast (sweet potato? avocado?) or bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich.

Tailgate Grill

The Tailgate Grill piles on the goodness with big, messy, customizable burgers, as well as hotdogs, cheesesteaks, and generous servings of fries and onion rings. This Valley favorite also has great beer and a place to sit outside.

Bottles

Bottles is the place to go if you want to have fun (and enjoy tasty appetizers and a bucket of beers while you’re doing it). Along will a bewildering array of 85 bottled drinks to choose from, you’ll find firepits, corn hole, ping pong, ladder golf, basketball, and an opportunity to try out the mechanical bull.

The River

Head to The River Burger Bar for 100% Angus burgers and a full bar including a Bloody Mary that looks like a work of art. The burgers come topped with delicious and interesting flavors like applewood bacon, roasted red pepper, avocado, and arugula. There are even menu options for vegan and gluten-free diners. Have a seat at the bar, or a table in the restaurant or outside where you can people watch and enjoy the day.

Alex’s Taco Truck

Speaking of food trucks, you’re missing out big time if you haven’t tried Alex’s Taco Truck. The food is flavorful, inexpensive, and the servings are generous. There are a few picnic tables in the lot next to the truck. However, our favorite thing to do is grab a big sack of tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tamales, or guaraches and take them to nearby Constitution Park for a picnic.

Basic City Beer Co.

Basic City Beer Co. brings you a selection of tasty craft beers as well as Billy Pie brick oven pizza. Basic City has plenty of room to spread out, both inside and out. Inside, they have TVs for catching the big game and old arcade games if your group is up for a little friendly competition. Outside offers tons of picnic table seating under dreamy string lights. Weather permitting, Basic City hosts live music and other events outside, and if it rains, they just bring the party inside. They are also very kid- and dog-friendly.

Seven Arrows Brewing

You’ll love relaxing with a beer and a meal from Nobos Kitchen on the deck at Seven Arrows Brewing. Select from 12 beers on tap and enjoy upscale pub fare like tasty apps, salads, sandwiches, bowls, tacos, and burgers. Dogs are welcome inside and out.

Stable Craft Brewing

Stable Craft Brewing excels in music, fun, agri-pub food, and delicious craft beer. This brewery and event space is on a beautiful working horse farm and has lots of outdoor seating so visitors can enjoy the fresh air and view. The brewery's event calendar is packed year-round, and they offer tours that give a peek into the brewery’s process and sustainable practices.

Barren Ridge Vineyards

Augusta County’s Barren Ridge Vineyards has your favorite wine by the glass, bottle, or tasting flight. You’ll appreciate the incredible view of the vineyards and distant mountains from the patio or tasting room. Hungry? Barren Ridge will help you pair its wine with Amish and local artisan cheeses, charcuterie, spreads, crackers, and baguettes. And as long as there are no ticketed events happening, leashed dogs are welcome.

Kline’s Dairy Bar

Save room for dessert! Valley favorite, Kline's Dairy Bar makes custard-style ice cream fresh each morning. You’ll go nuts for the dense, creamy product that comes in chocolate, vanilla, and a rotating selection of weekly flavors. Enjoy cone, cups, shakes, sundaes, and more. Kline’s has a few picnic tables set up outside, and you can even bring your dog!
