Can you believe Thanksgiving is almost here and it’s time to mark the start of the 2021 holiday season? Since you’ve probably got your hands full shopping for the feast with your best friends and family, we thought we’d help by tracking down the holiday happenings in Waynesboro this year. Plan ahead because there’s a lot going on!

Waynesboro Christmas Parade: December 3, 6 p.m.

Bundle up, check out a map of the parade route and set up your lawn chair for Waynesboro’s annual Christmas Parade. See the festive holiday spirit of various businesses and organizations, sing along to holiday tunes, and wait for Santa’s arrival at the end of the parade. Make a kid’s holiday by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the parade. The toy convoy float will be collecting donations.

Be sure to head downtown early to see the annual Tree Lighting atop the Wayne Theatre's Marquee at 5:30 pm! The Dickens Carolers will kick off a set with some of your favorite tunes at 5:45 to set the mood for what's sure to be a wonderful evening.

Downtown Waynesboro Holiday Market: December 3, 10 - 4:30 p.m., Main Street Alley

Come shop the wares of local merchants at Destination Downtown Waynesboro’s Holiday Market in downtown Waynesboro on December 3. You’ll find an extensive variety of gifts, including home decor, jewelry, macrame, wood-burned furniture, handmade leather items, and even caricatures. Warm up with a hot chocolate station and toasty treats like chili and cornbread from the Backyard Gourmet food truck and kettle corn from Lucky Duck Kettle Korn. See a performance by the Mountain Heritage clogging group and enjoy a meet and greet with Santa! Click here for more information!

That Holiday Feeling Decoration Trail: December 3 - December 24, 6 - 8 p.m.

Waynesboro loved the way last year’s That Holiday Feeling decoration trail lit up the night, so it’s back this year, bigger and better. Check the website for a list of addresses and a map of the route. Are the lights up at your house? Sign up here to put your own display on the trail.

Shenandoah Valley Art Center

Find a special gift at the Shenandoah Valley Art Center’s winter market that’s running now through January 15. You’ll find all sorts of artwork from local and regional artists as well as pottery, jewelry, textiles, glass, and more displayed in the center’s upstairs and hallways. This is a wonderful way to find something unique and support area artists and artisans.

If you’re feeling artistic yourself, enter the annual gingerbread contest, which will be on display from November 28 - December 3. Entries will be split into age-related categories and judged on creativity and craftsmanship. All construction materials must be edible.

Christmas Wonderland at Creative Works Farm: November 25 & 26, December 2, 3, 9, and 10, 5-7 p.m.

The walk-through Christmas Wonderland light display at Creative Works Farm will give you a warm holiday glow, despite winter temperatures. Enjoy the lights, musical performances, cookies and hot chocolate, holiday crafts, hayrides and a visit from Santa. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Camp LIGHT’s summer programs for children with special needs.

Stable Craft's Old-Fashioned Farm Christmas: December 3, noon-10 p.m.

If you like to mix holiday cheer with your craft beer, head over to Stable Craft Brewing’s Old-Fashioned Farm Christmas. Not only are they offering tasty barrel-aged beers and mulled ciders, but you can reserve a ride in a horse-drawn wagon, toast the season around a firepit, rent an igloo with your besties, listen to live music, participate in the National Lampoon costume contest, and even catch a glimpse of Santa Claus himself!

Holiday BazaarFest at Seven Arrows Brewing: November 26, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Come check out the first annual Holiday BazaarFest at Seven Arrows for food, fun, local business and craft vendors, and plenty of holiday cheer. Local musicians will be performing all day, plus specialty drinks and food served up by NoBos Kitchen.

Santa at Swannanoa: December 4, 11-4 p.m.

Need a family photo with Santa? Here’s your chance to create a beautiful, memorable photo inside the historic Swannanoa Palace! While you’re there, you’ll have the chance to take a self-guided tour of Swannanoa and enjoy a hot cocoa bar, cookie decorating station, craft station, caricature drawing, and more. There will also be a food truck and pony rides outside! Snag tickets today, before they’re all gone.
