We know, we know. Another app? But hear us out. The Visit Waynesboro app isn’t here to track your sleep or your data. It’s here to make your life easier, help you explore Waynesboro, and earn you free swag.
It’s also free and super easy to use.
Here’s what you can do with our app:
Take the Street Art Challenge
Waynesboro’s public art isn’t just for standing back, tilting your head, and saying ‘hmmm.’ It’s for finding, photographing, learning, and earning free stickers while you’re at it! After you download the app, just click the Challenges button and start on your self-guided mural hunt across the city. We’ve got everything from a famous seven-story woman with tulips in her hair, to an osprey with an eye for detail, to a cute little squirrel named Picasso, and plenty more. Be sure to read the details for a fun riddle about the murals and information on the artists.
Why do we do this? Because art should be fun — not intimidating. And because getting rewarded for wandering around our city and taking selfies with murals is an awesome time. Tag us @VisitWaynesboro when you post your selfies on insta!
Take the Rockfish Gateway Challenge
The Rockfish Gateway is your first impression of Waynesboro if you’re coming off the Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline Drive (or walking off the Appalachian Trail), finishing a hike through the Blue Ridge Tunnel, staying at the Grey Pine Lodge, or just rolling in for a long weekend. Think of it like a trailhead for some of the coolest things to do in Waynesboro.
Rockfish Gateway is home to:
The Foundry — an 800-person music and festival venue where you can catch everything from bluegrass to big bands to DJs, all while dancing like no one’s watching.
Basic City Beer Co. — Waynesboro’s very own cosmic microbrewery and beercade, and the OG of Rockfish Gateway.
Common Wealth Crush — an urban winery co-op where the tasting room is as pretty as the wine is tasty.
Happ Coffee — arguably the hippest place in Waynesboro to see and be seen in. Their coffee and sandos are also seriously awesome.
The Matriarchists — an awesome hangout for the sober, sober curious, and crafty.
Bonobos Bakery — an artisan bakery where the cinnamon rolls are roughly the size of your face, and trust me, you do need one.
Blue Ridge Bucha — a kombucha taproom where sipping some small batch flavors made onsite somehow feels both healthy and indulgent.
Sunset Park — Waynesboro’s newest city park and a must for the best view of the sunset and Waynesboro all in one.
Plus more! While you’re visiting all these amazing places that you’d definitely be at anyway, you can check in through the app and earn pretty awesome swag like a Rockfish Gateway trucker hat or a fanny pack (old school, not one of the new cross-body bags). Just open the Visit Waynesboro app, tap on Challenges, then the Rockfish Gateway 4-stop or 8-stop challenge (pro-tip: do both at the same time for allllllll the free swag), look for the QR code at the corresponding location to scan in the app, and then pick up your swag at the Visitors Center or have it mailed it to you!
That’s Just the Beginning
